Elder Soper's first letter from the MTC...

Dear Fambly,

Hope you guys are doing okay.  Since I have been gone for so long.  But I am doing awesome, there is no place that I would rather be it feels right.  But today did feel super long.  We had a big meeting and then dinner and a cool teaching experience thing.  They had people act like investigators.  (I think they brought people in from around the community that had real experiences and sort of reenacted them.)  It’s hard to explain, ha-ha.  But it really was cool and the spirit was really strong.  And the thing that I learned: it is not about me at all.  This is about the Lord’s work and inviting other to Christ.  My companion’s name is Elder Black, and he is from Arizona.  He is headed to Billings, Montana and he is a funny guy.  I am already pretty busy and I don’t have too much more to day.  But I love you guys and I can’t wait to start sharing the Gospel in Louisiana.  I don’t know when my p-day is but if it is not before Christmas, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!  I hope you guys have a super fun Christmas and remember Christ in all the festive things.  This is an awesome time of year and I will be with you in spirit, laughing and joking.  I will write more once it is my p-day and I have more experiences.  But farewell for a week.  I am totes fine.  And I am happy.  I love you guys!

Elder Devin Soper

PS I will have lots more to say when I have more time to write.  But today has been a lot to take in, but it is good stuff.  Okay, sorry—love you guys!

PPS It’s the next day, and it’s been good and really long.  But my companion is awesome.  We are both different, but really laid back and fun.  But he can bring the spirit in a heart beat.  He is 18 and it is cool to see how prepared his is.  Love you guys again.  I’ll email on…. a surprise day!  Merry Christmas Fadja, Madja, Sista, Sista and Bradja in law.  I’ll be thinking and praying for you guys.

  1. Woot woot! First letter. I love how he reminds us to find Christ even in the festive things. I laughed outloud a couple of times. He's a great writer. No surprise that he's enjoying it all and making the most of everything.

  2. Getting that first letter is such a relief!! It's always nice to hear from them that things are going well! In case you didn't know, Postmart will let you send any size package (same day if dropped off by 3:00 pm or so) for only $2. Devin can package things in the MTC mailroom to send back to you too through Postmart for free! They call you if you have a package and you pick it up at the Postmart by Shopko on the diagonal. Pretty sweet deal. We used it ALOT!
